Through this project, we hope to open doors to our singing talents by connecting with our motherland, its heritage, its culture. Among these, we learn to explore and understand the vast fields of music – its various characteristics, vocal styles, rhythms and beats. Most importantly, this opportunity brought my beloved childhood friend “music” back to me once again.

I am very grateful to my music teachers who instilled in me a passion and dedication to my love of music. Their ability to encourage and motivate us in every lesson creates a nurturing environment where creativity flourishes.
Thank you for your support and for making music a joyful part of my life!

Music is an art. Personally, for me, the best way to relax my mind is to sing and listen to music.
Spending time at Sangeetha Ashram with fellow students and our wonderful teachers is the most enjoyable experience and it brings me immense pride and self-satisfaction.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Sangeetha Ashram!

I find my voice through music. It has the power to unite people. I love singing and performing on stage allows me to express who I am to the world. If we love rhythm, life becomes exciting. We feel better and happier when we live with music.

I have thoroughly enjoyed attending these music lessons and learning to play the tabla under the strict guidance of our teachers. The experience has been both rewarding and insightful, allowing me to develop a deeper appreciation for Sri Lankan music and culture. It has proven to be a wonderful opportunity and has truly become something I look forward to on the weekends.

Engaging with the traditions of Sri Lankan music has been an incredible learning curve for me. The journey is about more than just singing – it’s about exploring emotions through music and understanding its power to tell stories. I particularly enjoyed the group dynamics and the opportunity to perform as a collective.

Being a part of the Sangeetha Ashram (London) has been an incredible journey. I have been fortunate to deepen my understanding of Sri Lankan traditional singing under the dedicated guidance of Mr. Weerasiri Malwatte and Ms. Anusha Malwatte. The classes are inspiring and rewarding, helping me to connect with our rich cultural heritage.
Preparing for the upcoming concert has been a wonderful experience, and I am excited to showcase everything we have learned with pride and gratitude.

I recently embarked on a wonderful journey of classical music lessons with Mr. Visharadha and Mrs. Malwatte, recommended by my dear friend Buddhi. My lifelong passion for singing led me to explore this art form formally for the first time. These lessons have been deeply rewarding, providing both a structured way to refine my vocal skills and a rich appreciation for classical music.
Beyond the technical development, this practice provides a calming escape from the demands of daily life. It brings me immense peace, joy, and fulfillment, making it a truly cherished part of my routine.

This experience has been a wonderful opportunity to rediscover music as a way to connect with our roots and express ourselves creatively. The structured lessons have provided me with a solid foundation and the camaraderie of practicing with other students has been truly inspiring. I am grateful to have been a part of this enriching musical journey.

Learning music has been a long-standing aspiration and is now beginning to be realised through the Music Ashram. What started as a curiosity has grown into a life skill that I genuinely enjoy. The weekly meetings with fellow students are energizing and the vocal practices, particularly the RAAGA, have been transformative. It’s not just about learning – it’s about finding joy and balance in the melodies we create together.

I had a lot of fun and learned a lot from these lessons. I want to thank you Sir and Miss for making Hindustani music accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Living in a place so different from our roots, it is such a privilege and gift to share this joy.

The Music Ashram has been an eye-opening journey into the depths of Sri Lankan music. It’s not just about learning to sing; it’s about understanding the spirit of the melodies and their cultural significance. The time spent with our teachers and fellow students has been a rich experience filled with laughter, learning and a deep sense of connection to our heritage.
